Cherfan

Named herder and loyal guardian of the Clan, Cherfan. As a yearling, he had a knack for dining before Ratha, much to the smaller female's annoyance. Despite having earned Meoran's reverence in the first novel, I always had a strong attachment to Cherfan, even though he was a minor character. I derived the notion that he would always remain truthful to his people and their ways - a fidelity that was tested and proven following Shongshar's ascension in Clan Ground.
My mind's eye painted him with a rough brown pelt. Faded spots looked silly, and so he retained sparse black, outlined rosettes instead. I interpreted him with a deep chest, gruff voice, and subtle accent - not unlike 'Draco', in the film Dragon Heart. To me, he was always larger than most Named males, and carried a thin ruff around the neck.
