This picture shares my view of a Clan cub's basic structure. It is how I envisioned Named kits. The markings are similar to those of an infant Cougar. I attained this physical appearance from the first novel, when a certain yearling is attempting to stare down a Three-Horn Stag.

Perhaps it is a very young Ratha, entertaining her fascination with buzz-flys, or the mirage of a distant future, known only to the fabled leader and her companion, Thakur.

Unlike other felines, Clan cubs are born with the gift of self awareness, and conscious thought, referred to as 'light in the eyes'. It is a sacred trait among the Named. So treasured is this concept of knowledge, in order to retain its blood-bound brilliance, the Named forbid pairings outside of the Clan. To mate with an interloper is to tempt the laws of exile and even death.
Only recently have those of the Clan begun to expand their courtship interests to their allies, the Song enchanted Hunter Tribe.
